Things are hotting up and there are lots of things to get involved in. Below is a list.

1 Age of Stupid. Climate Change film starring Peter Postlethwaite
at the Star and Shadow Cinema. SAT 25th April 7.30
and again on Sunday 10th May at 3pm, followed by a discussion
led by Shirley Ford, the GP lead candidate for Europarliament.

2 Heaton Transition Group meeting on MON 27th April, Community Rooms 59 , 10th Avenue heaton. 7.00pm

3 Tuesday 28 April – A Plant for all Seasons – info indicates that it is about plant science research – “to develop better crops and educating people about the importance of plants for sustainable development…” – hope it’s not about GM food!

Tuesday 5 May – Tales from a Physic Garden – by Elaine Perry who is professor at Newcastle Uni but also runs Dilston Physic Garden

Both talks are free and at 5.30 Curtis Building at Newcastle Uni opposite Haymarket metro.

4 FUNDRAISING STALL FOR TRANSITION FOOD GROUP AND JESMOND COMMUNITY ORCHARD Sat 3rd May 11am- 4.00pm
at The Star and Shadow Crafts and Flea Market. (Top of Stepney bank). Come and buy and / or volunteers needed on the stall, contact Gil O’Connell gilianoconnell@googlemail.com (Tel 0191 2819773). Quality books and Kitchen items
and assorted other goodies.

5 Iris Brickfield Practical planting meeting. Saturday 9th May 10:30am – 12.30pm at Iris Brickfield Playing Fields.
The meet will be by the noticeboard at the Whitefield Terrace backlane entrance to the Iris Brickfield playing field, The Community Dig is going to involve local people planting fruit bushes such as gooseberries, raspberries, black currants etc along a strip of land within the park.

6 Transition Food group meeting. Star and Shadow Cinema (Top of Stepney bank, Ouseburn) on Saturday 9th of May 2009 at 1330. Which is just 1 hour after the Iris Brickfield meeting, with time for lunch at the Cluny in Between, (Down the hill from the Star and Shadow).
