2 NORTH EAST ORGANIC GROWERS; (BOX SCHEME) Open Day on Sunday 6 September.
Transition Newcastle needs volunteers to run our stall at this event.
(during ‘Organic Fortnight’) where we hope to have some kind of TRANSITION NEWCASTLE stall
for the members who may be unaware of what it is all about. (we have not had any volunteers, so
Rachel T. may be there handing out leaflets for a while.
NEOG/Earth Balance is easy to reach by bus as the X31/X32 from the Haymarket
pass right by the entrance. Why not see the place , meet the people and book
up to try out a local organic veggie box scheme (Fruit available too).

3 APPLE DAY at West Jesmond Allotment Association. Sat 17 Oct 2-4.00pm
At the intersection of the south end of Highbury and fairfield Road. Nearest Metro West Jesmond.
Many buses going up the North Rd from Haymarket area will stop nearby.
If you or a neighbour have an apple tree and dont use it much, can we ask
you to collect a few pounds of apples to donate to the event.
Pick them around when the first ones fall, which varies from now, until october. Store them in a cool
dry place, wrapped individually in newspaper, or in a plastic bag with a few small holes in.
If you have room in a fridge for some, they store better at 5 degrees or so.
This is a cooperative effort between Transition Newcastle and Jesmond Community Orchard
With kind permission from West Jesmond Allotments. We hope this will become a local Tradition
As the Community Orchard develops. LOCAL FOOD MATTERS.
Please print off a poster and put it up somewhere and e mail it on.

5 There is a group developing in North Tyneside. If you want to be in touch with them please

That will do for now. Great to see the enthusiasm for new groups springing up all around the area.
